DECEMBER 5

Receiving Answers

As suggested on December 4, questions are a good way to receive answers from the Lord.  As you read, questions will naturally occur to you.  What lesson am I to learn from this scripture?  Why did the Lord answer the woman in that way?  How can I be so important to the Father?

Here is a great question based solely on scripture and an answer recorded from the Lord: “Who hath directed the spirit of the Lord, or being his counselor hath taught him?  With whom took he counsel and who instructed him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge and shewed to him the way of understanding?” (Isaiah 40:13-14).

“Hast thou not known?  Hast thou not heard that the everlasting God, the Lord, the creator, of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary?  There is no searching of his understanding.  He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.  Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall.  But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:28-31).

Ask a question of the Lord today.  It can be a question listed in Alma 5.  It can be a question you need answered from your own mind and heart.  Try to avoid, “Why me?” questions.  Replace them with, “What do I have to learn?” and your heart and mind will be filled with answers.  Record them.

This is the question I had on December 15, 2001:

What goes hand in hand with peace?

1)      Honesty (Psalms 28:3).

2)      Strength (Psalms 29:11).

3)      Striving for Righteousness (Psalms 34:14; 37:37).

4)      Stillness (Psalms 46: 9-10).

5)      Love of the Commandments (Psalms 119:165).

6)      Prayer (Psalms 122:6).
